professional pursuits

Somehow, I’ve managed to marry together two very different but wildly similar careers. Some days I’m sweaty in spandex while other days I’m polished in a business suit. Every day, I’m focused on goals; my own and those of my clients. Good habits are good whether they relate to money or wellness. It’s all hard. Success and progress requires establishing priorities, personal sacrifice and a vision to something beyond the here and now. I feel really blessed that my professional career as a financial advisor aligns with my personal passion for wellness.

Without our health, what’s the point of building wealth?

Everyday we exchange our time for money. What are you doing with your time?
Are you spending or investing it?

I watched my dad as an advisor for much of my young adult life, but never saw myself in his shoes until I realized I basically AM him, only younger and a woman. For 10 years, I’ve been working in asset management and financial planning. It ultimately took some soul searching to realize that this was what I wanted to do. I had to mentally divorce the idea that I would never be a full time coach in an industry where I had invested much of my energy for many years. I eventually realized that I had the knowledge and influence to advise and empower individuals in another really important area of our lives. Like our physical bodies and our health, money can either holds us back or grant us permission to go, try and do more. Each of us were raised with certain financial habits, often passed down from our parents, for better or worse. In my professional life, I help individuals understand their relationship with money, what healthy habits they need to continue or build upon and what they need to release. I’m not sweating through burpees with people anymore, but I am helping investors and families navigate financial sink holes and plant seeds that with grow into oak trees in years to come. It is an honor to serve these individuals and it is a joy to build a career in this space.

For well over 10 years, I have been competing in endurance races, coaching men and women one on one and in group fitness. After a decade of endurance racing, being a fit working mom is the hardest thing I have ever done. I welcome this challenge with grace and humility, every single day.  I have found that one of my greatest joys is to inspire women to embrace their strength and find beauty in sweat.  I spent a lot of time building a brand and business focused on meeting people where they are.  Teaching individuals that we already have the tools to be the healthiest form of ourselves, we just need to put in the work. I developed plans and workouts focused on simplicity.  Less rules, less boundaries, just get up and going.  Doing something that honors your best self, every damn day.  I am currently doing very little one on one coaching as there is only so much time in the day, but I do continue to find time in my schedule to get in my own sweat sessions and I use social media stories to inspire and encourage others to join me in the hustle.

I touch on my fitness journey a lot in my memoir. Welcoming resistance, endurance and persistence on the road and in the gym is what ultimately made me the woman I am today. You’re not paying attention if you think your workouts are just about the salty sweat in that moment. That hustle is capable of pouring over into everything you do. The heat you’re willing to take on the mat is molding your spirit. Keep showing up and stay in the hustle. I believe in you.
